Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

WHEN people ask why I’m running for mayor, I think of three things.

First my experience in business, second my passion for making a difference and third my vision for what we can achieve with the right leadership and plans.

Having served as deputy mayor for three years, I know that my business skills and council experience can combine to make a real difference for local residents.

As someone who has created more than 350 jobs in the region and run a business that has grown rapidly through hard work and vision, I know what running an organisation the size of Whitsunday Regional Council is about.

That’s why I will not get myself unnecessarily caught up in conflicts, and it’s why I will be able to hit the ground running to get council working harder for you.

Almost a decade after council amalgamations many of you are still waiting for a mayor who can deliver for the entire region.

If I become your mayor, my leadership will get council focused on delivering for all residents, no matter where they live.

I will also bring people together.

I will work with anybody who wants to do the right thing for our region.

I am not into party politics, or grandstanding.

I am into results and that’s what is going to make a difference for you.

During the next few weeks I will talk more about my plans.

These plans are all about local jobs and opportunity.

They are about real projects, real support for tourism and really making sure the Whitsunday region remains the best place in Australia to live.
