Put fun in fundraiser
THE Volunteer Marine Rescue Tropicana Ball is back.
The popular VMR ball will be held at the upgraded Marine Club on March 5 and will feature great music from local band White Rock and a delicious buffet dinner.
Event organiser Linda Priday said the event was a fun way to support a good cause.
“It will certainly be a fun night for everyone, and it’s helping raise funds for the Volunteer Marine Rescue, for the purchase of their new vessel and the ongoing maintenance costs for all their equipment,” she said.
“The VMR is run by a group of fantastic volunteers who are called out daily, at all hours of the day and night, this is an opportunity for the community to say thank you for all the help and support that VMR provide the Whitsunday region.”
The ball is the major fundraiser event for the year, and the money raised will help volunteers continue to save lives at sea. “Everyone is welcome to attend; there will be some fantastic items for up for auction and raffle prizes that the local community have kindly donated, including island stays, resort accommodation and dinners for two,” Ms Priday said.
Guests are invited to dress in Airlie tropical casual, so don your best flowered shirts and swaying skirts and kick back in a tropical wonderland.
Tickets are $75 a person and are available for purchase from Whitsunday Bookings or Airlywood.
Tickets to the ball can also be used for a $2 bus ride to the ball on Whitsunday Transit’s regular service, and a free return to your nearest bus stop at the end of the evening.
