Dirt rid­ers start CQ se­ries

LO­CAL dirt rid­ers tested their met­tle in Rock­hamp­ton at the week­end, tak­ing part in round one of the CQ Mo­tocross Se­ries.

Twelve Whit­sun­day Dirt Rid­ers headed south, kick­ing off the 2016 sea­son.

In the se­nior lites brothers Ash­ley and Wil­son Nor­man went head to head across the two days, with Wil­son tak­ing sev­enth po­si­tion and Ash­ley claim­ing se­cond.

Ryan Wynn brought it home for the ju­nior rid­ers, plac­ing third in the ju­nior lites twostroke and the ju­nior lites four-stroke.

The four-stroke divi­sion also had new­com­ers Jay­den Mckellin in 13th and Brodie Win­ston one place be­hind.

Jade Der­byshire rode hard in the largest class of round one, club­man lites, bring­ing home the 33rd spot.

Ge­or­gia Mur­ray took to the track in the ladies’ class, run­ning home in fourth.

WDR was well rep­re­sented in the se­nior open class, with rid­ers Ri­ley Nor­man, Darcy Mould­ing, Ben Roe and Rob Fuller tak­ing the con­test to the com­pe­ti­tion.

Nor­man just missed the podium, com­ing in fourth, while Mould­ing, Roe and Fuller claimed 12th, 17th and 19th re­spec­tively.

Roe also ran in the masters class, miss­ing a medal po­si­tions by one place.

Liam Mould­ing put paid to the com­pe­ti­tion, claim­ing sil­ver for the club in the club­man opens.

Con­test­ing the com­pe­ti­tion in blaz­ing heat and with un- for­giv­ing track con­di­tions, the club got off to a solid start to its 2016 sea­son.
