Willcox for mayor?

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

WELL Andrew Willcox, you are the person who signed off on the sale of the Waterson Way land to the Chinese.

Then, with your two votes against the Chinatown proposal recently, you lost Airlie Beach a $300 million development, which would have added another dimension to the town’s main street.

As Steve Marks put it last week in no uncertain terms, developers are few and far between for such an enterprise.

Worse than that, at last week's council meeting ( Whitsunday

Times report last week), you had the hide to propose that the Waterson Way land be put up for tender for its purchase and development.

You have repeatedly stated that you want to see that parcel of land developed, so I fail to see any logic in your position.

Any competent executive always leaves the door slightly ajar to allow for either a solution or compromise but in your case you have slammed the door shut. You wish to be mayor? I suggest that you stick to your tomatoes. Lester Riley Airlie Beach
