Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS - By Kathryn Cygan

STUDENTS at Cannonvale State School had some special visitors on February 11, as three players from NRL team the Cowboys popped in for a visit.

Players Tautau Moga, Braden Uele and Patrick Mago spoke to all students at a special assembly, where they answered questions from the children about what it’s like to be a professional footballer.

Physical education teacher Annette Munckton said the students were excited to meet their football idols.

“They were very keen to listen and ask questions. They also brought in memorabilia which the Cowboys signed,” she said.

The purpose of their visit was to encourage students to lead a more active lifestyle and to have hopes and aspirations for the future.

“They spoke about setting goals and working towards goals and dreams, and that motivation and help gets them through the tough times.”

Ms Munckton said the visit was certainly a highlight for the children.

“It was great to have the players come in and inspire the children to lead healthy lifestyles,” she said.
