Ladies’ Day kicks off

LAWN BOWLS: The Air­lie Beach Bowls Club has con­tin­ued to be busy dur­ing the past week with var­i­ous func­tions be­ing held at the club.

Last Tues­day saw the start of of­fi­cial Ladies’ Day on Tues­days.

There are still many ladies away on hol­i­days but the win­ners for the day were Del Lacey and Margo Stan­ley de­feat­ing Di Dob­bins and Jill Spencer 17–7.

Con­nie Reimers, Noela White­head and Jenny Ry­der de­feated Con­nie Reimers, Mar­garet Heeney and Lane Telford 15–9.

Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon the men had a fun time with 10 play­ers on the green.

Win­ners for the day were John Sladek, Dan McLeod de­feat­ing Peter Lawton and Peter Hin­schen 25–14.

Eric Bot­tle, Dom Sposato and Steve Tat­tam de­feated Paul Os­borne, Keith Dunn and Nik Fern­bach 31–16.

Wed­nes­day evening Busi­ness House Bowls was once again well at­tended with some new teams com­ing along.

The point score ta­ble at present is:

Cold Rock 12, Bendigo Com­mu­nity Bank 10, Whit­sun­day Tran­sit 8, Big 4 Ad­ven­ture Park and Woolies All­sorts both on 7, Porters Pounders 6, Marine Pro­vi­sion­ing 5, In­tu­itive Mas­sage and Methika Thai Mas­sage 3.

It is all hap­pen­ing again this Wed­nes­day.

Fri­day evening the club hosted the Whit­sun­day Sport­spark ex­ec­u­tive to show­case their plans for the precinct re­de­vel­op­ment.
