Ladies back on greens

Wed­nes­day bowls is back in ac­tion for the Proser­pine lady bowlers af­ter a long break.

Last week Gabriela Lacher and Joan McGrath de­feated Fran Porter and Lil­lian Har­ris 18–13 in a game of three bowl pairs.

Mary Hedge­long, Car­lie Al­bert­son and Dot Hin­schen de­feated Linda Ritchie, Gail Camm and Heather Pat­ullo 12–6 in a game of triples.

On Wed­nes­day, Proser­pine ladies are hold­ing their of­fi­cial open­ing day.

Nom­i­na­tions for all club com­pe­ti­tions have now closed.

The fi­nal of 2015 Con­sis­tency Sin­gles is to be played on Wed­nes­day, March 9, be­tween Joan McGrath and Maree Daf­fara. Marker is Heather Pat­ullo.

Team nom­i­na­tions for the Triples Car­ni­val to be held Mon­day, April 4 are open.

The first 16 teams will be ac­cepted.

Mem­bers are asked to bring along two cent sale prizes for the Triples Car­ni­val.

In gen­eral club news, nine men from Proser­pine at­tended the District Teams Tri­als at North­ern Beaches.

Wayne Han­d­ley, Shane Spann, Gavin Milne, Gra­hame Kin­n­ear, Scott Kin­n­ear, Nathan Dodds, Scott Hamil­ton, Shane May and Dan Robin­son all tried out for the North­ern Chal­lenge and District sides.

Nom­i­na­tions for Club Cham­pi­onship Fours, Pairs and Sin­gles close on Sun­day, March 6.

On Sun­day, eight play­ers en­joyed the green.

Fran Porter, Wendy Pomeroy, Kevin Thoro­good and Heather Brown de­feated Jeanette Cal­way, Dot Hin­schen, Philip Brown and Barry Zill­mann 19–18.
