Can­nons smash it

SWIM­MING: Six­teen Can­non­vale Can­nons trav­elled to Townsville at the week­end to com­pete in the North Queens­land Long Course Cham­pi­onships.

Coaches Ken Crittenden and Mark Erick­son ac­com­pa­nied the Can­nons swim team and were im­pressed with the swim­mers.

Some of the trip’s high­lights in­cluded a sil­ver medal for the 8–10 years girls’ 200m med­ley re­lay team, made up of Mik- haila Flint, Alan­nis Rusk, Evie Her­lihy and Emily Vique.

Han­nah Crittenden, 14, swam well, par­tic­u­larly in her 50m but­ter­fly event and 200m in­di­vid­ual med­ley, which she com­pleted in a time of 3.28.22.

Ja­cob Dewis, 10, swam per­sonal bests in 100m freestyle, 100m breast­stroke and 200m freestyle.

Ja­cob was placed in the top 10 for all his swims and won medals for his 50m and 100m freestyle events.

Mikhaila Flint, 10, set per­sonal bests for most of her swims, plac­ing in the top 10 for her age group.

She re­ceived medals for 50m but­ter­fly, 200m in­di­vid­ual med­ley, 50m back­stroke and 200m back­stroke.

The coaches were im­pressed with the ac­com­plish­ments of all the swim­mers.
