Cannons smash it
SWIMMING: Sixteen Cannonvale Cannons travelled to Townsville at the weekend to compete in the North Queensland Long Course Championships.
Coaches Ken Crittenden and Mark Erickson accompanied the Cannons swim team and were impressed with the swimmers.
Some of the trip’s highlights included a silver medal for the 8–10 years girls’ 200m medley relay team, made up of Mik- haila Flint, Alannis Rusk, Evie Herlihy and Emily Vique.
Hannah Crittenden, 14, swam well, particularly in her 50m butterfly event and 200m individual medley, which she completed in a time of 3.28.22.
Jacob Dewis, 10, swam personal bests in 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke and 200m freestyle.
Jacob was placed in the top 10 for all his swims and won medals for his 50m and 100m freestyle events.
Mikhaila Flint, 10, set personal bests for most of her swims, placing in the top 10 for her age group.
She received medals for 50m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 50m backstroke and 200m backstroke.
The coaches were impressed with the accomplishments of all the swimmers.
