To the next level
MARTIAL ARTS: Whitsunday tae kwon do kids stepped up a level this week after grading by a master examiner.
A total of 21 juniors and three seniors passed and advanced to their next level or Gup.
The grading was conducted by master instructor and examiner, Vicky Gillam, who holds a fifth dan black belt. She was assisted by second dan black belt instructor Jim Hodges.
All students have worked extremely hard to get to this stage in their training and there were some notable achievements.
From the little Tigers – kids aged four to seven – there was direct promotion to juniors for Vivien Rose and double promotions were awarded to Kelvin Newham, Tavis McDonald and Charli Young.
The Best Grading Trophies were awarded to Bailey Flannery, Elliot Staton, Tavis McDonald and Austin Edwards-Bland.
Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan has training sessions on Monday and Wednesday at the Proserpine High School and at the Cannonvale State School on Tuesday and Thursday.
