Cricket awards claimed
CRICKET: Last Friday night saw the last outing for the white flannels and the best Proserpine junior cricketers recognised for the 2015–16 season.
The Proserpine Junior Cricket Club ran three games where the parents joined in with their sons and daughters to celebrate a great season.
On all three fields it was great to see the dads and mums taking up the willow and scoring runs with their young cricketers.
With the social games finished, this made way for presentations and other formalities.
The two pinnacle awards were the Player of the Year and the Gasper Family trophy.
With a consistent summer with the bat and ball, Noel Waipape, with 243 runs, nudged past a number of other contenders to gain the Junior Player of the Year trophy.
Jack Dwyer was awarded the 2015–16 Gasper Family Memorial trophy for his onfield achievements, including representing the Mackay region.
