Beach bowlers get busy on the green

AIR­LIE BOWLS: Men’s day on Wed­nes­day saw nine on the green, with Paul Os­borne as a dou­ble lead.

The triples team with Paul Os­borne, Jim Cairns and Nik Fern­bach won with 28 against Paul Os­borne, Rick Brunell and Peter Lawton (9).

Kevin Jewell and Rick Galea took to the green for a game of dou­bles, beat­ing Steve Tat­tam and John Sladek 26 to 17.

Sun­day So­cial Mixed bowls was at­tended by 22, with an even split of men and women.

Win­ners of the money were pairs team Rick Brunell and Kevin Jewell, card­ing 22 to beat Henny Tat­tam and David Dias (17). A triples game saw Bruce Pur­die, Ali­son Holmes and Elaine Had­low beat Henny Tat­tam and David Dias 21 to 15.

An­other triples game was won by Bob Feeney, Con­nie Reimers and Steve Tat­tam.

They tri­umphed over Louise Ma­hony, Eric Bot­tle and Jenny Ry­der 21 to 14.

The clos­est triples game was Elaine Kip­pen, Jill Spencer and Betty Ni­colle.

The trio recorded 17 over Paul Os­borne, Domenico Sposato and Margo Stan­ley who came close with 14.

Men’s Pen­nant com­pe­ti­tions start on Sun­day, April 10 at North Mackay Bowls Club. Pen­nant play­ers should be at the Air­lie Beach Bowls Club on Satur­day at 1pm for tri­als.
