Event honours Mark
WHITSUNDAY GOLF: Sunday had 32 Whitsunday golfers take part in the Mark Nicol Memorial Trophy two ball ambrose.
The competition is played in memory of the local musician and avid Cowboys fan.
As if to honour him further, the Cowboys claimed the win on the weekend.
Winners on the day were Ian Giles and Kym Hill with a net score of 62.25.
Coming in a close second were Robyn Mills and Mick Caton, carding net 64.5.
Rounding out the podium were Mal Carter and Danny York (net 66).
Ross Richards recorded the longest drive for the men’s A-grade, while the Bgrade honours went to Ritchie Atkins.
The ladies 1-39 handicap saw Penny Wardroper hit it the farthest, with Pauline Redpath claiming the 40+ handicap.
Third place-getters Mal Carter and Danny York took nearest the pins on the second and the 16th.
The ninth saw winners Ian Giles and Kym Hill claim the pins. Karen Rix and Don Cameron took out nearest the pins on the 13th.
Next Sunday will see the Whitsunday golfers contest a single stroke competition.
