Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

BOWLS: Ladies’ Day on Tuesday was a better-than-average day, with 14 bowlers on the green. There was one game of triples and one game of fours.

Best win of the day was the triples.

Di Dobbins, Lane Telford and Elaine Hadlow achieved a score of 22 to defeat the team of Connie Reimers, Margaret Heeney and Dinah Reintals, whose score was 14.

A nail-biting match played by Heather James, Eileen Halliday, Jenny Ryder and Margo Stanley resulted in a win with a score of 21 when they played against Louise Mahony, Ladda Purdie, Noela Whitehead and Val Hadley on 20.

The jackpot was not won so next week’s pool will be greater.

Men’s Day attracted only six bowlers for the social game. Bob Finney, John Ryan, and Neil More went up against Jim Cairns, Domenic Sposato and John Sladek. No scores were recorded.

The first round of the Men’s Senior Singles was contested on Wednesday. Two games were scheduled on this day. Rick Brunell was to play Paul Osborne. Rick won by the forfeit of Paul.
