Treasure 8 takes out division two

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

ANOTHER gusty and overcast Wednesday greeted the fleet for the latest twilight race at Whitsunday Sailing Club. With 15 boats spread across three divisions, it was up to the sailors to make the most of the conditions.

The multihull division was another two-horse race. Overdrive (Rupert King) made the most of the conditions over Turning Point, after a great start remaining within range of the faster boat throughout the course. This reflected in the final results, with Overdrive winning on corrected time by two minutes.

Division two was a very tight affair, with five of the seven boats finishing with less than three minutes separation on corrected time.

A clean start by the entire fleet enabled Reignition to take the lead on the water, but a consequent disqualification on technical issues meant the winner across the line and race winner was Treasure 8.

AT THE MARK: QMS was close behind the leaders during Wednesday’s twilight racing from the Whitsunday Sailing Club.
