Seaforth wins comp shield
LAWN BOWLS: Proserpine La
dies Bowling Club: On Tuesday the ladies’ team selected for the Symons Shield travelled to Northern Beaches to play against Northern Beaches.
June Blair, Joan McGrath and Heather Brown were defeated 20–24 by Dianne Soanes’s team.
Heather Patullo, Dot Hinschen and Helen Muller defeated Sue Hunter’s team 25–23.
Wendy Pomeroy, Lois Read and Maree Daffara were defeated 15–23 by Debbie Dennis’s team.
Northern Beaches went on to win the shield with the final being played between Northern Beaches and Seaforth.
On Wednesday, the bowlers were lucky to avoid major rain events and three competition games were played.
In club championship pairs, June Blair and Heather Brown defeated Amy Hart and Heather Patullo 32–14.
In club championship singles, Helen Muller defeated Vicki Spann 25–18 and Jo Peasley defeated Fran Porter 25–16.
In social play Cathy Holmes and Gail Camm defeated Mary Hedgelong and Dot Hinschen 20–14.
Proserpine Bowls Club: On Saturday afternoon Division 1 played Pennants at Proserpine against Souths Suburban.
John Henderson, Jonathan Bye, Michael Kinnear and Barry Saroglia tied 21–all with P Balderson’s team; Nathan Dodds, Jim Quod, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann went down 18–22 to Peter Blackburn’s team; Sandy Daffara, Shane May, Scott Hamilton and Grahame Kinnear went down 11–28 to Ray Kurtz’s team.
This gave Suburban two match points and 2½ rinks wins plus 21 and Proserpine zero match points, ½ rink win minus 21.
Division 4 was defeated by Sarina but scores were unavailable at the time of writing this report.
In the club championship singles played on the Saturday morning, Barry Saroglia defeated Scott Hamilton 27–13.
On Sunday morning Ted Cullen defeated Allan Pershouse (score unavailable).
