Wintermoon has finally arrived
THE time has arrived for the highly anticipated 20th Wintermoon Festival.
Music lovers from near and far have started to arrive at the festival site in the picturesque valley of Cameron’s Pocket, which recent rain has made lush and green.
Take the time out for a short drive between Proserpine and Mackay and head behind Calen this weekend to enjoy the diverse range of music and workshops.
There’s sure to be something for everyone with interesting stalls, tasty food, a beautiful country location and the sparkling St Helen’s Creek for some cool water fun. The festival’s three stages – the Southern Cross stage, Lunar stage and Lunar Landing stage – will give visitors a chance to see their favourite acts in both day and night concert mode.
The music program, which stretches through to midnight each day, features an exciting mix of bands, duos and soloists sourced for the entertainment and enjoyment of festival goers from all around Australia.
One band to look out for is Perch Creek, a group of five energetic multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, four of whom are siblings.
The Melbourne-based band, who have been performing for ten years, enchant listeners with a high energy, harmony driven sound which draws from folk, roots and gospel.
The diverse instrumentation, including guitar, double bass, keyboard, trombone, saw, banjo and tap dancing, gives Perch Creek their signature unique sound.
Their popularity has taken them around Australia and across the globe to the UK, so make sure you do not miss Perch Creek this weekend.
All the venues have plenty of cover for sun or shine and if you forget your chairs, hay bales will be available for a comfor- table and relaxed experience.
Before the festival bursts into life at 5pm on Friday, a mini concert will take place tonight from 5pm on the Lunar Stage, to get festival goers ready for the massive weekend to follow.
The full program is now available on the Wintermoon website and its contents are sure to tempt you.
Although camping has sold out due to popular demand, there are plenty of opportunities to buy day/night tickets during this extended weekend.
