Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

I AM surprised at the praise given to the departing CEO Scott Waters for his contribution and for driving the continued growth of the Whitsunday Coast Airport.

Flights into Proserpine have decreased this year from 28 per week to just 21 per week, when at the same time Hamilton Island have 82 scheduled flights per week.

The International Airport Expressions Of Interest and the International Airport Joint Venture have collapsed along with hundreds of thousands of dollars this failed project has cost ratepayers.

No international airlines have made any commitment to schedule any flights into Proserpine and the Export Hub ‘Deed of Agreement’ signed by Scott Waters in Hong Kong is still a secret.

Surely if there is a demand for New Zealand flights, the airlines will be quick to capture the NZ to Proserpine business.

Perhaps it was time for Mr. Waters to explore other avenues of employment. Rogin Taylor Preston
