Ugly Duckling golf day a hit
A good field of 88 members and visitors turned out for the annual Ugly Ducklings day two-ball ambrose event on Saturday.
In ideal conditions and on a course in superb condition, winners on the day were Rob and Shelley Stanley on 59.75, ahead of runners-up Bob Slater and Gary Kaden with 60.5.
In the rundown were Russel Reardon and Greg Walker (65.5), Jill Farinelli and Mark Richards (65.75), Tony Sellwood and Mick Burrows (66), Andrew Colborne and Dean Barnard (66), Troy Dobbins and Mick Kavanagh (66.5), and Michael Cragg and John Dodds (66.75).
Nearest the pins went to Gary and Elspeth Scotford on No2, Peter Stone (9), Wendy Bradley (13), and Faye Elder (16).

Thursday saw a good field of 58 men turn out for a stableford event, with the 18-hole Div.1 title going to Gavin Kerwand (42), beating runner-up in this division, Wayne Temby (38), while the Div.2 title went to Peter Browning who beat runner-up Robert Webb on countback, both with 37.
In the countdown were Steven Stewart and Russell Reardon (37), John Grosskreutz and George Gnezdiloff (36), Jim Cochrane (35), with Michael Ward, Dave Thomas and Conrad Werner all carding 34s.
The nine-hole comp went to Steve Mitchell, beating runner-up Mark Thompson and Russell Reardon on 21 pts.
Nearest the pins went to Pascal Neunreuther on No.2, Peter Krause (9), Chris Weigand (13), and John Grosskreutz (16). Ladies’ golf
The ladies played a four-ball aggregate Stableford event on Wednesday, with the winners being Trish McNeill and Ann Gardel on 62 points, ahead of runners-up Di Dobbins and Marlene Gray (60), while in the rundown were Ann Gardel and Paula Wronski (60), and Tessa Aitken and Beryl Miller (55).
Di Dobbins got NTP on No9, and Trish McNeill won on 13.
Next Wednesday the ladies will play the Padgett Ladies’ Day – Stroke and Putts, while on Saturday will be the Paya Ladies stableford event.
The men will play a versus par event on Thursday, while the Metropole Hotel monthly Stableford event will be held on Saturday. Dawnies
Sunday saw the Dawnies out early to play a four ball best ball competition on the front nine, the winners being Clay Coles, Paul Davis, Mark Cohen, and Nick Apruzzese. The runners up being Travis Clinch, Al Clinch, Tony Spurway and Larry Muller. The other end the Bradman’s went to George Stevenson Tom, Fleming, Bruce Upchurch and Maurie Moody.
