But now Tony Ab­bott is back. In fact, he is on the cam­paign trail here in Daw­son at the in­vi­ta­tion of lo­cal mem­ber Ge­orge Christensen. Tony and Ge­orge are two of a kind, cut from the same cloth.

While the Great Bar­rier Reef bleaches from global warm­ing, Ge­orge is an out­spo­ken cli­mate change de­nier.

While the rest of the world moves quickly into re­new­able en­ergy, Ge­orge con­tin­ues to sub­sidise with tax­pay­ers’ dol­lars a dy­ing coal in­dus­try.

While thou­sands of peo­ple in his elec­torate have lost their jobs in the min­ing in­dus­try, Ge­orge re­fuses to sup­port the re­new­able en­ergy in­dus­try that will pro­vide sus­tain­able jobs well into the fu­ture.

And, as did his men­tor Tony Ab­bott, Ge­orge speaks loudly against so­cial jus­tice. The peo­ple of Daw­son need to look to­wards the fu­ture.

We dumped Tony Ab­bott. Now it is time to dump Ge­orge Christensen.
