First impressions

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

I THOUGHT the starfish roundabout at the top of Airlie was pretty bland, but the council has exceeded themselves by now concreting it.

They have missed an opportunity of really giving a good tropical feel as motorists decend into the main street of Airlie.

The amount of money spent on the main street makes the approach look pretty dismal.

This concrete roundabout in time will look like the concrete strip at the traffic lights at Shute Harbour Road and Island Drive, discoloured and black from dirt and traffic fumes and never cleaned.

The person who came up with the idea to concrete the roundabout should be carrying out their ideas in a prison compound.

Actually you would find far more pleasing outdoor welcoming features in a prison. Alan Beverstock Airlie Beach
