Pennants prove strong point
BOWLS: On Saturday, the Proserpine Bowls Club Division 1 Pennants travelled to Souths Suburban to play round 7 of their Pennants.
Nathan Dodds, Jim Quod, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann were defeated 14-19 by P Balderson’s team; Dan Robinson, Jim Janz, Luchie Gardel and Michael Kinnear drew 21-all against Peter Blackburn’s team; and Scott Kinnear, Shane May, Scott Hamilton and Wayne Handley were defeated 15-22 by R Spence’s team.
The results left Proserpine with 0 match points, ½ rink point and minus 12 margin.
Division 4 played against Sarina at Proserpine. Sandy Daffara, Steve Lawrie, Ross Reville and Barry Zillmann were defeated 19-25 by B Bettien’s team; Neil Robinson, Dale Haack, Ted Cullen and Kevin Thorogood’s team were defeated 11-32 by L Smith’s team. This gave Proserpine 0 match points, 0 rink wins and minus 27.
On Sunday afternoon there were two first round mixed singles games played. Maree Daffara defeated Heather Brown 25-22 and Allan Per- shouse defeated Philip Brown 27-22.
In Proserpine Ladies Bowls, last Wednesday was disrupted by rain.
Action returned on Thursday with round 1 of this year’s Pennants. Heather Patullo, Dot Hinschen, Heather Brown and Maree Daffara were defeated 35-10 by Barbara Clanfield’s team; Lois Read, June Blair, Joan McGrath and Helen Muller came back to level their game 16-all against Rondelle McDermott’s team. This gives Proserpine 0 match points minus 25.
Today is the final of Club Championship Singles and Pairs. Next game of Pennants is June 10, at 9am, at Mackay. The bus leaves at 6.45am.
