Impressive scores for monthly golf medal
GOLF: Winter may be in the air but that didn’t stop Whitsunday golfers playing the Airlie Panel and Paint Monthly Medal on Sunday.
A chilly breeze meant players kept their jackets on for a good while until the day warmed up.
Dean Kercher was victorious in Men’s A-grade with an impressive net 66. Next best was Geoff Harrison on net 73 on a countback
Gross score went to Rod Wecker and the longest drive was Geoff Harrison.
Donny Hope got the job done in Men’s B-grade, with his net 68 beating. out Don Cameron on net 72.
Best gross score went to Marl McDougall and the longest drive was Anthony Whyte.
In the ladies’ matches, Jacqui Wall took the win on net 70, followed by Beryl Miller on net 71.
Best gross score was Anna Winterbourn and the longest drives went to Tiina Randmae (1-39 h’cap) and Robyn Mills (40+ h’cap).
Nearest the pins for all in went to Don Cameron for his second shot on the ninth and Mick Caton for his first shot on the 13th.
In the Men’s A-grade, David Hoy claimed it for his second shot on the second and Geoff Harrison got it with his first shot on the 16th.
In the Men’s B-grade, Anthony Whyte was the man for his second shot on the second.
The WFX Encouragement Award went to Tessa Aitken.
Next week will be a two-ball ambrose.
