A good read

Whitsunday Times - - WHITSUNDAY VIEWS -

THE Whitsunday Regional Council has now revealed that the failed international airport joint venture has cost ratepayers a staggering $2,323,698.00 with absolutely nothing to show for the money spent, except a mountain of bills.

I have to query the international flight component in the amount of $175,538.00. How many times did people fly internationally and where did they go?

A business class return flight to China costs $4800, you could go to China and return 36 times flying business class for the $175,538 and 303 times to China and return if you travelled economy.

This is just sheer greed and reckless spending and I look forward to our “transparent” council making a full detailed disclosure of the international flights costs as well as details of the $363,000 claimed for ‘reimbursable’ costs.

It is sure to raise a few eyebrows and make some good reading. Rogin Taylor Preston
