Bridge back in the swing of it

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

BRIDGE: The Airlie Beach Bridge Club had a great game on Tuesday night with a two table Howell. It was good to see David and Murray Smith and Lyn Chambers joining for the first time.

A short 18 board session yielded only two hands bid to game and made (both in spades).

The majority were part scores with 3 “flat” hands.

Pairs 1 and 2 may be able to add a one to their score for the passed-in hand.

It was Dale Hell and Eric Bottle who won with 23 pts, Murray and David Smith with 18, Narelle and Neil with 17 and Linda and Lyn with 11.

Lyn is just back to bridge after a few years’ break and will take no time to refresh.

It was wonderful to welcome our Bowen visitors to the Friday morning game, making up a three table Howell and following the game with lunch at the sailing club.

Visitors Janice Wright and Marlene Nicol won with 57%, followed by Gillian Blackie and Gwen Sheer with 55% and then visitors Val Cummins and Sue MacDonald with 52% and Dale Hell and Eric Bottle, David and Mary Orr and Linda Priday and Trevor Merrin.

Lessons are starting soon. There must be at least four or more to start, with the club already having three ready to go. For those interested in learning bridge call 0416 273 598 to book your free spot.
