‘Pink Party’ is back
MAGNUMS Hotel is well known as one of the biggest party spots in Airlie Beach and on Friday they will be using this fact to raise thousands of dollars for breast cancer research.
After raising more than $15,000 last year, staff and management have the ambitious goal of reaching $30,000 this year for the PA Research Foundation.
Venue manager Tony Boxell said Magnums was one of the biggest fundraisers in the state.
“Magnums annually fundraises for this cause and as a group, every year we raise hundreds of thousands to help find a cure for breast cancer,” he said.
“Magnums is often the leader in amounts raised out of 100+ venue's in Queensland.
“This year we are aiming to raise 30k. We are well on our way to that target thanks to patrons’ support.”
Mr Boxell said cancer was a disease that affected everyone at some stage in their lives.
“We want to help put an end to it,” he said.
“Every little bit of funds raised helps towards this.”
The Magnums annual Pink Party fundraiser entertainment starts from 3pm.
There will be a live auction on the boardwalk from 10pm.
“There will be heaps of great items up for grabs worth thousands kindly donated by local businesses,” Mr Boxell said.
“There will also be raffles and of course live entertainment. Get your pink on and come and support for a good cause. We hope to see you there!”
Included in the auction will be a 12-month pass to all ticketed events at Magnums, tick- ets to the Airlie Beach Festival of Music, a Cruise Whitsundays Camira trip for two and a tour with Whitsunday Crocodile Safari.
The Pink Party will also have a drinks special with $2 from every Rekorderlig drink sold going to charity.
The winner of the "name our duck competition" will also be announced on the night.
Music will be provided by The Fox and Sun Salute, the latter of whom has just been announced as support to internationally acclaimed reggae band Katchafire.
