A big birthday bash

Whitsunday Times - - CHILL -

MAGNUMS Hotel is celebrating their sweet 16th and they want all of the Whitsundays to celebrate with them.

To mark the monumental occasion, they are holding an entire weekend of fun.

Starting this Friday, July 1, well-known Melbourne DJ Joel Fletcher will hit Airlie Beach to join in the celebrations.

The Fox will also perform, along with a host of supporting DJs and prizes and giveaways on the night.

On Saturday, Lyrical LIVE and Dylan Hammond Music will light up the boardwalk, while the nightclub will host the famous wet t-shirt competition and backpacker games.

Finally on Sunday, things will kick back for a classic Sunday Sesh with DJs and live music, including Hayden Weke.

Entertainment manager Kieran Vakatini said it was a big milestone.

“It’s our birthday so we’re throwing a massive party. It’s great to able to make it to 16 years, most places don’t make it that far so we’re doing really well,” he said.

Mr Vakatini said getting Joel Fletcher was a big deal.

“If you follow him on Snapchat, you’ll see he’s touring all around Europe right now. He’s been huge and he’s only getting bigger. It’ll be a great night,” he said.

Mr Vakatini said he was also particularly excited to see Lyrical play over the weekend.

“They’re an epic band,” he said.

“Come down and support our live music.”

With $300 up for grabs in the wet t-shirt competition and balloons filled with cash and bar tabs, there will be plenty on offer on the Saturday night and there will be more chances to walk away a winner with putt for cash returning on Sunday.

It won’t be the last time Magnums throws a big bash.

“There will also be a massive one for 18 years,” Mr Vakatini said.

FAMOUS FACE: Joel Fletcher is part of Magnums’ 16th birthday celebrations.
