GOLF: A smaller field than usual played in the Whitsunday Golf Club stroke competition on a shortened 9 hole course while the back 9 was drying out after the rain.

It was a fitting result for our club captain Brad Hammond who won the Men’s B-grade competition on his last day of play before he moves away. WGC expressed appreciation for his hard work over the last few years as captain and wished him the best in his new home. Vice-captain David Hoy has taken over the club captain’s duties.

In Men’s A-grade Adam Stralow claimed the win on net 70 with Mick Caton runner-up on net 71 on a countback from Ron Jamieson. Best gross score went to Ross Richards and longest drive was Ross Richards.

Men’s B-grade Brad Hammond win on net 72 followed by runner-up Mark McDougall on net 79. Beryl Miller claimed the Ladies competition on net 74 in front of Anna Winterbournon on net 77. Next week is the Airlie Panel and Paint July Monthly Medal which incorporates the WFX Encouragement Award and the Guzzler’s Cup.

WINNERS: Adam Stralow, Beryl Miller, Brad Hammond walked away winners from Whitsunday Golf.
