Bowling up to triples
BOWLS: Eighteen ladies turned up for social bowls on Tuesday and selectors made three games of triples.
Leone Ryan, Di Dobbins and Jenny Ryder overpowered Dell Lacey, John King and Ladda Purdie with a score of 25-13.
Betty Whitehorn, Pam Cutting and Elaine Hadlow defeated Denise Laidlow, Evelyn King and Jill Spencer in a battle that produced a score of 24-6.
Elaine Kippen, Connie Reimers and Margaret Heeney defeated Louise Mahony, Eileen Halliday and Julie Stark in a well-matched contest with a score of 28-22.
Men’s Day on Wednesday also had a good attendance, with 24 playing on the green.
Selectors made four games of triples. First up, Bob Spees, Rick Brunell and Steve Gibb with a score of 24 easily defeated Clarrie Whitehorn, Bob Fenny and Peter Lawton, who only accomplished 11.
Saturday’s Scroungers had a good roll-up of 14 bowlers, the winner being Steve Gibb. Sunday’s sunshine brought out the bowlers in good numbers and the selectors were able to form two games of triples and two games of fours.
Winner of the money was a fours team of Ken Hatherall and June Walsh, who well and truly shattered the team of Betty Whitehorn and Peter Lawton, the final score being 33-9.
