Bowl­ing up to triples

BOWLS: Eigh­teen ladies turned up for so­cial bowls on Tues­day and se­lec­tors made three games of triples.

Leone Ryan, Di Dob­bins and Jenny Ry­der over­pow­ered Dell Lacey, John King and Ladda Pur­die with a score of 25-13.

Betty White­horn, Pam Cut­ting and Elaine Had­low de­feated Denise Laid­low, Eve­lyn King and Jill Spencer in a bat­tle that pro­duced a score of 24-6.

Elaine Kip­pen, Con­nie Reimers and Mar­garet Heeney de­feated Louise Ma­hony, Eileen Halliday and Julie Stark in a well-matched con­test with a score of 28-22.

Men’s Day on Wed­nes­day also had a good at­ten­dance, with 24 play­ing on the green.

Se­lec­tors made four games of triples. First up, Bob Spees, Rick Brunell and Steve Gibb with a score of 24 eas­ily de­feated Clar­rie White­horn, Bob Fenny and Peter Lawton, who only ac­com­plished 11.

Satur­day’s Scroungers had a good roll-up of 14 bowlers, the win­ner be­ing Steve Gibb. Sun­day’s sun­shine brought out the bowlers in good num­bers and the se­lec­tors were able to form two games of triples and two games of fours.

Win­ner of the money was a fours team of Ken Hather­all and June Walsh, who well and truly shat­tered the team of Betty White­horn and Peter Lawton, the fi­nal score be­ing 33-9.
