FC smash seven goals to cement second spot
A first half blitz has seen Whitsunday FC smash Country United 7-1on Saturday at Whitsunday Sportspark.
The bottom placed United started terribly with a penalty to Whitsunday in the opening minutes of the game giving FC a 1-0 a lead.
United hit back not long after to make it 1-all but a goal to Ryal Lee in the 18th minute opened the floodgates for FC.
The home side ran in a total of six first half goals with doubles to Sam Reynolds and Ben Mcloughlin as they took a 6-1 advantage into the break.
It was a solid attacking performance with Mcloughlin completing his hat-trick with the sole second half goal. The win sees Whit- sunday move to outright second on the ladder.
The Whitsunday Reserves fought out a hard 2-2 draw against the Rangers on Saturday.
A first half goal to Nathan Sothmann meant the teams went into the break 1-all.
Owen Hodgen got Whitsunday their second goal in the 61st minute but disaster struck two minutes later when Harry Hodgen was shown a red card.
Despite being a man down, they held on for the draw.
In a repeat of last week’s match up, the Whitsunday ladies went down 10-1 to Magpies Reign on Saturday.
Whitsunday 1st Division also saw a heavy loss as they went down 12-0 to Rangers.
