Air­lie race 29 in a to­tal of 52

WILL Palcy ad­mits you have to be a bit “out there” to com­mit to 52 half marathons in 52 weeks.

“You have to be a bit crazy. At least for one year,” he said.

The former cor­po­rate of­fice worker from France left his home coun­try in a quest to tour the globe run­ning and rais­ing money for re­s­pi­ra­tory ill­ness re­search.

“I want to serve a higher cause,” he said.

The Air­lie Beach Run­ning Fes­ti­val half marathon event was num­ber 29 for Palcy who will com­plete a to­tal of seven races in Aus­tralia be­fore leav­ing for Europe.

Palcy has run in Cen­tral Amer­ica, USA, South East Asia, China, Kaza­khstan, Mon­go­lia and even New Zealand he told the Whit

sun­day Times with a smile, de­scrib­ing the Air­lie Beach leg of his odyssey as “chal­leng­ing and in­ter­est­ing”.

“The peo­ple have been very gen­er­ous, very into sport and very friendly,” he said.

“I have re­ally en­joyed my time here.”
