Whitsunday golfers enjoy trip
Games to resume in Proserpine
Twenty Whitsunday Golf Club players enjoyed a weekend of golf away from home last weekend.
They played in the Halliday Bay 2 ball Ambrose alongside the local members last Sunday on the 9 hole “Par 3” beachside course.
The format required nine drives from each player and a player’s drive could only be used once on any hole. For example if Player A’s drive was used on the 1st, Player B had to drive on the 10th.
Ian Giles and Lew Tuck were the winning combination on the day, with Anna Winterbourn and 10-year oldClay Sandiland the runners up.
Next week sees the Ladies, Mixed and Men’s Opens at Proserpine.
August 7 will be the Airlie Panel and Paint MM, alongside the WFX Encouragement Award and the Guzzler’s Cup for the next month.
Dawnies Golf: The Pioneer Golf Day featured 12 players on Sunday with Bob Slater taking first on 59/43, Mick Bur-
rows behind on 43/47 and Clay Coles third on 50/49.
Nearest the pin went to John Anderson. Snake putter went to Jim Evans, least putts to Paul Grace (14) and Bradmans went to Al Clinch (61/ 58).
Veterans Golf: In the 9 hole Stableford competition, 41 players took part with Bill Nosworthy the winner on 25 followed by Les Johns (20).
In the 18 competition, Bill Nosworthy claimed the double win on 40 followed by Mick Dibbens (37).
