Games to re­sume in Proser­pine

Twenty Whit­sun­day Golf Club play­ers en­joyed a week­end of golf away from home last week­end.

They played in the Halliday Bay 2 ball Am­brose along­side the lo­cal members last Sun­day on the 9 hole “Par 3” beachside course.

The for­mat re­quired nine drives from each player and a player’s drive could only be used once on any hole. For ex­am­ple if Player A’s drive was used on the 1st, Player B had to drive on the 10th.

Ian Giles and Lew Tuck were the win­ning com­bi­na­tion on the day, with Anna Win­ter­bourn and 10-year oldClay Sandi­land the run­ners up.

Next week sees the Ladies, Mixed and Men’s Opens at Proser­pine.

Au­gust 7 will be the Air­lie Panel and Paint MM, along­side the WFX En­cour­age­ment Award and the Guz­zler’s Cup for the next month.

Dawnies Golf: The Pi­o­neer Golf Day fea­tured 12 play­ers on Sun­day with Bob Slater tak­ing first on 59/43, Mick Bur-

rows be­hind on 43/47 and Clay Coles third on 50/49.

Near­est the pin went to John An­der­son. Snake put­ter went to Jim Evans, least putts to Paul Grace (14) and Brad­mans went to Al Clinch (61/ 58).

Vet­er­ans Golf: In the 9 hole Sta­ble­ford competition, 41 play­ers took part with Bill Nos­wor­thy the winner on 25 fol­lowed by Les Johns (20).

In the 18 competition, Bill Nos­wor­thy claimed the dou­ble win on 40 fol­lowed by Mick Dibbens (37).
