Fun times at fab fete

All old favourites back: frog throw, rides, raffles & displays

Whitsunday Times - - CHILL. -

THE annual Cannonvale State School fete fundraiser is back again this year with plenty of fun for the whole family.

All of the old favourites of years gone by will return including the rides, raffles, stalls, showbags, scavenger hunt and giant Lego display.

Cannonvale State School P and C treasurer Sue Griffiths said the fete would again be raising funds to improve the school.

“The P and C goal is to raise funds for ongoing support for the school whilst retaining a fund to eventually add a storage facility to the school hall and upgrade the AV system in the hall,” she said.

This year they have had the challenge of working around the construction of their new state-of-the-art prep and grade one building that will be opening next year.

But as well as old favourites there will also be a cake stall, Mr Booth’s famous frog throw and the plate competition.

“The children have the opportunity to win fete dollars on the day too by entering our ‘My teacher on a Plate’ comp. You basically draw your teacher on a paper plate and entry fee is a plate of cakes for the stall. Councillor Jan Clifford and Mrs Merewyn Wright will be judging this on the day,” Ms Griffiths said.

P and C president Mandy Bennett said they wanted eve- ryone to know it was an event for the whole community.

“We need the community’s support,” she said.

“Come and have a great day, spend some money and support us. It will be great.

“Everyone’s welcome, the whole community, that’s what we’re trying to make it – a community event.”
