Business owners love gold accredited Abell Point

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS -

HAVING been given a big pat on the back by the Marine Industry Association, Abell Point Marina is beloved by it’s resident businesses as well by all accounts.

AB Marine owner Kenny Nicoll has been operating out of the marina for about five years, saying he had seen “enormous improvements” under the current owners.

“Probably most of all the amount of vessels coming through the marina,” he said.

“It must have trebled since I first arrived, or more.

“It’s been fantastic with the amount of business we’ve been getting because of that.

“We’ve had to employ more staff.”

He said these improvements were a boon for all businesses.

“A rising tide lifts all ships, and we happen to be one of them,” he said.

“It’s a five-star operation here now.

“We’re just lucky and very pleased to be a part of it.”

Queensland Charter Yachts managing director Christophe Vanek agreed, saying he had seen “major improvements”.

“The service today is a world-class service and this is why the marina is becoming so successful,” he said.

“A full revamp of the marina was done at all levels; buildings, staff, pontoons and so on.”

Mr Vanek said building Abell Point Marina brand was a big plus for local industry.

“We really love to be associated with a successful business like the marina,” he said.

“It’s a very good partnership. Not just between us and the marina, but between all the business and the marina. We all work together toward the same goal of achieving a very good quality product.”

Mr Nicoll said the team at AB Marine felt the same way, describing the business as “a link in the chain” and “lucky to be one of those links”.
