Fierce games out on green
Competition heating up at Airlie club
BOWLS: Competition was in full swing at the Airlie Beach Bowls Club this week.
Ladies day on Tuesday featured a B-singles game with winner Regina Tell defeating Shirley Wodson 25-15 while the A-singles saw Betty Nicolle defeat Doreen Peadon 25-10.
In the women’s B-pairs Elaine Kippen and Regina Aquilina beat Di Dobbins and Lane Telford 19-11.
There was a game of Men’s A-singles on Tuesday and Tony Whitehorn defeated John Beachey 25-23.
On Wednesday afternoon, Betty Whitehorn, John Sladek and Rick Galea defeated Regina Tell, John Sladek and Graeme Herd 25-18. In other games Jim Cairns, Neil Moore and Rick Brunell defeated Bob Spees, Nik Fernbach and Tony Whitehorn 20-19 and Grant Souter and Tim Smith defeated Lou Rogan and Bob Fenney 20-14.
Men’s B-singles on Friday afternoon saw Bob Spees defeat Bob Fenney 25-15. Men’s A-singles saw Rick Galea defeat Wally Reintals 25-3 and Mann Isgro defeat Nik Fernbach 25-15. Rick Brunell defeated Graeme Herd 25-16 and Nathan Harriott defeated Tony Whiteheorn 25-18.
Saturday Autumn Scroungers saw new bowlers Glenda O’Connor, Rob O’Connor and Wendy Foley playing for the first time. The overall winner was Margo Stanley defeating Tony Whitehorn 14-10.
Saturday Championship games saw Bob Spees, Neil Moore and Rick Brunell defeat Bob McMahon, Steve Tattam and Nik Fernbach 30-26 in the Men’s 2 Bowls Triples, Men’s B-pairs saw Bob Fenney and Graeme Herd defeat Neil Frazer and Wally Reintals 29-8.
Sunday Men’s B-singles Rick Brunell defeat Wally Reintals 25-5. Sunday saw Men’s A-pairs played with Nathan Harriott and Mann Isgro defeating Rick Galea and Neil Moore 32-7. Betty Whitehorn beat Regina Tell in the Ladies B-singles 28-3.
