Tables packed as players refine their card skills
BRIDGE: Two full tables turned out for the Airlie Beach Bridge Club on Thursday night and another three tables played on Monday.
On Thursday night, Dale Hell and Gillian Blackie blitzed the field with a score of 34 points.
They were followed by Di Dobbins and Eric Bottle with 24 points, closely followed by Linda Priday and Dewi Hughes with 20 and then Neil and Narelle Cawthorne with 16.
As they were three tables on Monday Master points were also scored.
The winners were Dale Hell and Eric Bottle with 63% followed by Neil and Narelle Cawthorne tying with Ruth Boast and Di CRossley with 54% and followed by Gillian Blackie and Trevor Merren with 51%, and then Jan and David Marshall and Dewi Hughes and Linda Priday.
The Bridge Club will be at the Rotary Show and Tell on Sunday giving demonstrations.
In May, there will be the Australia-wide pairs for novices and the club is hoping to have at least one table of novices playing in the event. Last year, the club had had Neil and Narelle Cawthorne in the first 100 pairs, which was a special honour for our club.
