Ta­bles packed as play­ers re­fine their card skills

BRIDGE: Two full ta­bles turned out for the Air­lie Beach Bridge Club on Thursday night and another three ta­bles played on Mon­day.

On Thursday night, Dale Hell and Gil­lian Blackie blitzed the field with a score of 34 points.

They were fol­lowed by Di Dob­bins and Eric Bot­tle with 24 points, closely fol­lowed by Linda Pri­day and Dewi Hughes with 20 and then Neil and Narelle Cawthorne with 16.

As they were three ta­bles on Mon­day Master points were also scored.

The winners were Dale Hell and Eric Bot­tle with 63% fol­lowed by Neil and Narelle Cawthorne ty­ing with Ruth Boast and Di CRoss­ley with 54% and fol­lowed by Gil­lian Blackie and Trevor Mer­ren with 51%, and then Jan and David Mar­shall and Dewi Hughes and Linda Pri­day.

The Bridge Club will be at the Ro­tary Show and Tell on Sunday giv­ing demon­stra­tions.

In May, there will be the Aus­tralia-wide pairs for novices and the club is hop­ing to have at least one ta­ble of novices play­ing in the event. Last year, the club had had Neil and Narelle Cawthorne in the first 100 pairs, which was a spe­cial hon­our for our club.
