Runner blitzes the field in Airlie first
RUNNING: A dominant lead of 51 seconds to Damien Cusack was more than enough to claim parkrun honours on Saturday in his debut at Airlie Beach as he came home in a solid time of 19:52.
A total of 64 runners hit the starting line at Abell Point Marina on Saturday morning in another strong turnout.
Jamie Jochheim was the next best in a time of 20:43, closely followed by third-placed male runner Hamilton Island Running and Triathlon Club member Justin Knight-Gray in 20:52.
First-timer Alyce Garth made the most of her Airlie parkrun debut as she claimed the women’s honours in a dominant time of 20:52.
Riana Young Cashinella came home in second for the women in 24:32 and another first-timer, Aylie Spence, rounded out the top three in a time of 25:28.
There were nine new personal bests set on the day and nine first-timers to the Airlie Beach track. The event coincided with the Super League Triathlon on Hamilton Island over the weekend.
Airlie Beach parkrun runs every Saturday from 7am.
