One crazy club night
LOSING your shoes and scuffling with security – one Moranbah man has paid the price for his crazy night out.
Hayden James Claffey, 26, was partying at Mama Africa nightclub in Airlie Beach on February 27 around 1.35am when he was asked to leave.
Prosecutor Bernhard Berger said police were approached by security about a fight outside the club.
Police then observed three security guards holding down Claffey before arresting him.
Security told police he was “knocking into people and taking his shoes off after being told to put them back on”.
He then re-entered the club and was asked to leave again but refused and had to be forcibly removed.
Things only got worst for Claffey as a police pat down revealed he had a small metal round tin with a white powder inside it.
After being transported to the watchhouse, he was searched again and police found three clip seal bags.
Claffey admitted to police they were his and that it was “leftover MDMA”.
Magistrate Ron Muirhead said Claffey did have a history of public nuisance but they were dated.
Claffey was fined a total of $2000 for the offences and had convictions recorded.
