Rocks and scuffles at home fight

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS COURT -

A MESSY neighbourhood spat that involved throwing rocks has landed one man on probation.

Anthony Lee Wiggett, 17, from Cannonvale, pleaded guilty to charges of trespassing and assault in Proserpine Magistrates Court on Monday.

The incident occurred on January 3 around 10pm outside a Cannonvale home when Wiggett went to confront his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend.

Prosecutor Bernhard Berger said that as Wiggett was approaching the house he saw one of the men and yelled “tell your f ****** son not to text my girlfriend or else”.

A scuffle broke out as the man grabbed Wiggett’s arm.

It was eventually broken up, but as Wiggett walked away he turned and said “your kids are f ***** , I’m going to kill them”.

A rock was then thrown towards Wiggett, which hit his car. He then picked up the rock and threw it back, hitting one of the men at the house in the hip.

Magistrate Ron Muirhead said “the bottom line is when you were told to leave, you should have left”, he said.

Wiggett was placed on six months’ probation and had no conviction recorded.
