Sarina Crocs snap Brahmans in trial

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Whitsunday Brahmans put weeks of turbulence behind them to play in Mackay on Sunday.

They played a strong Sarina outfit in what was their second hitout of the year but the Crocodiles ran away 30-24 winners.

Brahmans coach Phil Ramage said their execution let them down.

It also didn’t help not being able to train for the past two weeks straight.

“That was the first proper hitout since... the cyclone,” he said.

“We had a good pre-season and then that little block where we couldn’t do anything really.”

It wouldn’t take long to get back up to match fitness again, he said.

“We’ll put our heads down and get back into our fitness, ready for round one,” Ramage said.

The trial match was also a good opportunity for the U19s to play in the A-grade side, who Ramage said were tested by the “big boys in Sarina”.

“It’s only going to benefit the whole club in the long run. They’re the future of any club which can only survive if you have those juniors pushing through.”
