Proserpine club gets in full flight
BOWLS: The Proserpine Bowls Clubs was back in action over the weekend as the first competition games since Cyclone Debbie were played.
On Friday Wayne Handley played Scott Hamilton in a game of Championship Singles. Hamilton was on his game and didn’t give a chance away winning 25-10.
On Sunday Jim Quod and Kevin Thorogood played Nathan Dodds and Scott Hamilton in a game of Championship Pairs. Dodds and Hamilton proved too good winning 32-6.
Monday saw Quod play Grahame Kinnear in a game of Championship Singles. It was neck and neck early but Kinnear was too consistent winning 25-10.
At this stage there have been no games called for next weekend.
The club would like to congratulate Michael Kinnear and Grahame Kinnear who teamed with Peter Blackburn to win the Souths Suburban Easter Triples Carnival on the weekend. They were the only team to be undefeated for the weekend, winning all eight games.
Ladies bowls returned on Wednesday for the first time since the cyclone.
There are positions vacant for the upcoming Metropole May Carnival on May 13. Players can register at the club or contact Barry Saroglia.
