Proser­pine club gets in full flight

BOWLS: The Proser­pine Bowls Clubs was back in ac­tion over the week­end as the first com­pe­ti­tion games since Cy­clone Deb­bie were played.

On Fri­day Wayne Han­d­ley played Scott Hamil­ton in a game of Cham­pi­onship Sin­gles. Hamil­ton was on his game and didn’t give a chance away win­ning 25-10.

On Sun­day Jim Quod and Kevin Thoro­good played Nathan Dodds and Scott Hamil­ton in a game of Cham­pi­onship Pairs. Dodds and Hamil­ton proved too good win­ning 32-6.

Mon­day saw Quod play Grahame Kin­n­ear in a game of Cham­pi­onship Sin­gles. It was neck and neck early but Kin­n­ear was too consistent win­ning 25-10.

At this stage there have been no games called for next week­end.

The club would like to congratulate Michael Kin­n­ear and Grahame Kin­n­ear who teamed with Peter Black­burn to win the Souths Subur­ban Easter Triples Car­ni­val on the week­end. They were the only team to be un­de­feated for the week­end, win­ning all eight games.

Ladies bowls re­turned on Wed­nes­day for the first time since the cy­clone.

There are po­si­tions va­cant for the up­com­ing Metropole May Car­ni­val on May 13. Play­ers can reg­is­ter at the club or con­tact Barry Saroglia.
