NOT adhering to heavy vehicle rest restrictions has cost one Airlie Beach man thousands.
Ivan John Keli Petelo, 26, was pulled over around 6.45pm on November 28 at Caloundra as police were conducting heavy vehicle inspections. When police looked at Petelo’s log book they discovered that he had twice breached fatigue regulated heavy vehicle laws over the previous two days.
Petelo had driven 13.75 hours, which was over the 12 hour maximum in 24 hour period rule and had only rested continuously for 4.25 hours, which was under the 7 hour requirement.
Pleading guilty, Petelo was fined $2500.
