Show goes on at St Catherine’s

Whitsunday Times - - BETTER BUSINESS -

AS THE saying goes: The show must go on.

And the staging of the hit musical Grease performed by students of St Catherine’s Catholic College is no exception.

Despite the havoc caused by Tropical Cyclone Debbie the cast and crew have been hitting the boards, clocking rehearsal time to not only ensure the show goes on but to also make sure it is a special and a truly remarkable performance.

One hour prior to each show, the school will run a “transformation factory” in which musical goers can get their hair and make-up done 1950s style to get into the spirit of the show.

Bringing out your inner 1950s alter ego by dressing up in 1950s gear or as your favourite Grease character is strongly encouraged.

Coming up next month there will be three performances of the show at the St Cath’s Manresa Campus: Friday, May 5 at 6.30pm, Saturday, May 6 at 1pm and 6.30pm.

St Catherine’s hospitality teacher, Kate Moretto has organised for the hospitality students to supply food. Guests can enjoy loaded hot dogs and chicken tasters, along with non-alcoholic beverages.

All of this is included in the low ticket price of $15 for adults, $10 for school students and $8 for children (non-school aged children). There are also family ticket options available. Tickets can be purchased through the Flexischools website.
