Whitsunday Times - - NEWS WELCOME -

IT WAS one year ago this week that the jewel in the crown of the Whitsundays, South Molle Island, went up for sale.

The sale opened the door to questions about why many island resorts were lying dormant – a question that remains 12 months on.

The island was soon snapped up by the owners of Daydream Island, Capital China Investments Group.

Shute Harbour was also in the news after the council outlined plans to back future development of a marina.

The Save Our Foreshore group vocally objected to the plans and staged a protest at the ferry terminal.

On the sporting front, winners of the Hamilton Island Hilly Half Marathon were celebrated.

While culturally, the Wintermoon Festival celebrated 20 years of entertaining people in the Whitsundays.
