Borer wins close ladies competition
GOLF: Sixty-six players turned out on Saturday to play the Airlie Beach Hotel Monthly medal, in windy conditions.
The overall and C-grade winner was Rob Smith with a solid score of 62 nett.
The A-grade medal winner was Mick Burrows, 69, and the runner-up was Nic Langevad on 71.
In the B-grade, Lloyd Kingston, 68, just edged out Michael Cragg on 69.
The C-grade runner up was Travis Clinch.
The place getters were Warren Deighton, 68, John Dodds and Craig Langevad, 69, Peter Faust and Peter Fox on 70, and Tony Sellwood, Ron Edkins and Gary Scotford on 71, on a countback.
In the ladies competition, Kath Borer was the overall winner with 74 net.
The rundown had Wendy Bradley on 75, Lyn Muller 76 and Penny Wardroper and Jill Farinelli both on 77
Last Wednesday the ladies played their monthly medal in wet conditions.
The day was won by Penny Wardroper with a net 70.
Runner-up was Ann Gardel, on a countback from Tiina Randmae, both on 77.
The Thursday club also was down on numbers because of the weather.
A-grade winner was Gavin Kerwand with 42 points from Vic Feldman, 33 on a countback.
B-grade winner was Paul Joice, also with 42 points, with John Dodds runner-up on 38 points.
The nine hole competition was won by Paul Joice with 22 points, with Jim Dowell
