Borer wins close ladies com­pe­ti­tion

GOLF: Sixty-six play­ers turned out on Satur­day to play the Air­lie Beach Ho­tel Monthly medal, in windy con­di­tions.

The over­all and C-grade win­ner was Rob Smith with a solid score of 62 nett.

The A-grade medal win­ner was Mick Bur­rows, 69, and the run­ner-up was Nic Langevad on 71.

In the B-grade, Lloyd Kingston, 68, just edged out Michael Cragg on 69.

The C-grade run­ner up was Travis Clinch.

The place get­ters were War­ren Deighton, 68, John Dodds and Craig Langevad, 69, Peter Faust and Peter Fox on 70, and Tony Sell­wood, Ron Ed­kins and Gary Scot­ford on 71, on a count­back.

In the ladies com­pe­ti­tion, Kath Borer was the over­all win­ner with 74 net.

The run­down had Wendy Bradley on 75, Lyn Muller 76 and Penny Wardroper and Jill Farinelli both on 77

Last Wed­nes­day the ladies played their monthly medal in wet con­di­tions.

The day was won by Penny Wardroper with a net 70.

Run­ner-up was Ann Gardel, on a count­back from Ti­ina Rand­mae, both on 77.

The Thurs­day club also was down on num­bers be­cause of the weather.

A-grade win­ner was Gavin Ker­wand with 42 points from Vic Feld­man, 33 on a count­back.

B-grade win­ner was Paul Joice, also with 42 points, with John Dodds run­ner-up on 38 points.

The nine hole com­pe­ti­tion was won by Paul Joice with 22 points, with Jim Dow­ell
