A marina event not to be missed
ONE thing is for sure – it’s all happening at Abell Point Marina in June.
It won’t be long before sailing season begins and keen boaties will make their way from all around Australia to the Whitsundays.
And to encourage an early arrival, Abell Point Marina will put on a special weekend for visitors old and new – the Cruising Season Launch Party.
Marketing and Business Development Officer Joscelyn O’Keefe said over the past few years a trend had developed where the marina would become busy from mid to late June.
“We thought if we put an event on at the beginning of June then we could drive visitors to the region earlier and extend their period of stay,” she said.
The party, which will run from Friday, June 2 until Sunday, June 4 will see a number of different events for not just marina guests, but the general public too.
Kicking off the action packed weekend are beginner yoga sessions at Lure, Abell Point Marina, hosted by Proserpine Yoga Studio.
There’s no need to bring your own yoga mat, just a positive attitude to encourage a relaxed mind.
To finish off a refreshing afternoon, the marina welcomes marina guests to canapes and drinks at Lure, Abell Point Marina, where you can enjoy looking out onto the marina.
With stunning views and a charming atmosphere, the evening is sure to be a hit.
For all the food enthusiasts out there, Saturday will see the Food Junkie, Rebecca Clark, hosting one of her legendary master classes.
You’ll learn how to select ingredients, technique, cooking and even better, you’ll get a taste of what has been whipped up.
Then on Saturday evening, enjoy live music, raffles and plenty of mingle time at the marina’s foreshore party.
Head down to the South Marina Village to enjoy a night of laughs and bubbles.
Ending a stellar weekend is a long lunch to celebrate the launch of the newest marina restaurant, Hemmingway’s.
Over a few hours, a five course set menu lunch will be served, sure to excite your taste buds.
Ms O’Keefe said it was a great way to bring people to the marina.
“It’s great if they haven’t spent a lot of time down here just to relax in the surroundings, experience the new restaurant, have a drink at Sorrento or experience Lure,” she said.
Tickets and bookings are essential for these events. Visit www.abellpointmarina. com.au to book and for more information.
