Coral Coast Rally powering ahead
IT’S that time of the year where the long-awaited annual Coral Coast Rally hosted by the Abell Point Yacht Club is set to take place yet again.
While Cyclone Debbie caused a minor delay to the iconic event, it is now scheduled to take place between June 3–9.
Regular competitors still in the process of having their vessels repaired are encouraged to participate by means of crewing on a mate’s boat.
The event will take sailors through to Cape Gloucester Resort, marking the first event to take place at the venue since Cyclone Debbie hit the coast.
Quadrant Marine co-owner Kerrie Bell said this would send a strong message of support for Cape Gloucester as it gets back on its feet.
“We want to help support Julie (Houston) and her staff celebrate being back in business as Julie has been a great supporter of APYC and the Rally for many years,” she said.
The action-packed week will include a stop over to be held on each night.
Sailors on all vessels are welcome to participate whether they are using powered or sail boats.
Previous years have shown that the “big trip” inspires widespread enthusiasm from both old and new sailors.
The Coral Coast Rally will also take participants out to Magnetic Island which will host an Ambrose style golf day, a night at Stage Door live theatre, a presentation and games night and a myriad of other exciting activities.
Any interested people are encouraged to join and bring along their friends for the Coral Coast Rally of a lifetime.
To express interest or for answers to any questions people are encouraged to contact Colin or Kerrie Bell from Quadrant Marine on 0414 275 617 or call Charlie Preen on 0408 182 822.
READY, SET, GO: The Coral Coast Rally is set to kick off in June.
