Werner win­ner in big field

Gardel takes out ladies com­pe­ti­tion

GOLF: Satur­day’s Proser­pine Golf Club event at­tracted 70 play­ers, with Con­rad Werner with 46 Stable­ford points, out­class­ing sec­ond-placed Peter Faust by four points to claim the men’s com­pe­ti­tion.

Three came in with 40 points, Travis Clinch, Peter Lewis and Chris Doblo, the count­back putting them in that or­der.

Ann Gardel took out the ladies com­pe­ti­tion with 38 points.

Run­ner-up was El­sp­beth Scot­ford, 32 fol­lowed by Penny Wardroper on 31.

Thurs­day’s men’s par event was won by Greg Walker in the A grade and Chris Weigand in the B-grade, both with +4.

The run­ner-up in A grade was Michael Ward, and B-grade Chris Brett, both with +2.

The nine hole event was won by Michael Cragg, fol­lowed by Chris Brett and Ron Ed­kins, all with +2.

Next week’s com­pe­ti­tions will see Ladies Wed­nes­day, Monthly Medal, Thurs­day men’s, Stroke and Satur­day will see the post­poned April Monthly Medals played.

The ladies played an 18 hole Stable­ford on Wed­nes­day, May 9, which was the last game to be played on the front nine only.

The big win­ner on the day was Lyn Muller who took first place with 31 points.

Run­ner-up was Pauline Red­path on a count­back from Mar­lene Gray, both with 30 points.

The ju­niors played again on Sun­day.

The three hole gross win­ner was Ge­or­gia Holmes, 27, and the nett win­ner was Laycee Bartz, 16.

The six hole event was won by Ay­den Bartz gross 51, the run­ner-up was Daniel Spur­way.

Nett win­ner was Lo­gan Devey, 28, with Blake Love­lock run­ner-up.

The nine hole gross event was won by Liam Eames, 57 from run­ner-up Rian Mitchell 75.

Nett win­ner was Jack Val­madre, 33 from Josh McDou­gal. The 18 hole win­ner was Levi Holmes.
