Werner winner in big field
Gardel takes out ladies competition
GOLF: Saturday’s Proserpine Golf Club event attracted 70 players, with Conrad Werner with 46 Stableford points, outclassing second-placed Peter Faust by four points to claim the men’s competition.
Three came in with 40 points, Travis Clinch, Peter Lewis and Chris Doblo, the countback putting them in that order.
Ann Gardel took out the ladies competition with 38 points.
Runner-up was Elspbeth Scotford, 32 followed by Penny Wardroper on 31.
Thursday’s men’s par event was won by Greg Walker in the A grade and Chris Weigand in the B-grade, both with +4.
The runner-up in A grade was Michael Ward, and B-grade Chris Brett, both with +2.
The nine hole event was won by Michael Cragg, followed by Chris Brett and Ron Edkins, all with +2.
Next week’s competitions will see Ladies Wednesday, Monthly Medal, Thursday men’s, Stroke and Saturday will see the postponed April Monthly Medals played.
The ladies played an 18 hole Stableford on Wednesday, May 9, which was the last game to be played on the front nine only.
The big winner on the day was Lyn Muller who took first place with 31 points.
Runner-up was Pauline Redpath on a countback from Marlene Gray, both with 30 points.
The juniors played again on Sunday.
The three hole gross winner was Georgia Holmes, 27, and the nett winner was Laycee Bartz, 16.
The six hole event was won by Ayden Bartz gross 51, the runner-up was Daniel Spurway.
Nett winner was Logan Devey, 28, with Blake Lovelock runner-up.
The nine hole gross event was won by Liam Eames, 57 from runner-up Rian Mitchell 75.
Nett winner was Jack Valmadre, 33 from Josh McDougal. The 18 hole winner was Levi Holmes.
