Wardroper wins monthly medal

GOLF: A post­poned April monthly medal spon­sored by Air­lie Panel and Paint and Master Butch­ers Whit­sun­day was played out last Sun­day by the Whit­sun­day Golf Club on a glo­ri­ous day with both front and back nine open.

Re­cov­ery on the course may be slow with re­cent rain not help­ing but the course is open and play­ers are de­lighted. Play­ers’ game re­cov­ery af­ter the lay­off is also a work in progress.

In men’s A-grade, Scotty Wardroper took the win on net 77 in front of run­ner-up Wayne Temby on net 78.

The best gross score went to Danny York and the long­est drive was Wayne Temby.

In men’s B-grade, Ritchie Atkins was too good with a net 68 fol­lowed by run­ner-up Bren­don Me­harry on net 72.

The best gross score went to Mark McDougall; Ritchie Atkins had the long­est drive.

Karen Rix won the ladies com­pe­ti­tion on net 69.

The run­ner-up was Anna Win­ter­bourn on net 73.

The best gross score was Ti­ina Rand­mae and the long­est drives went to (1-39 h’cap): Anna Win­ter­bourn and (40+ h’cap) An­nie Kercher.

Least putts on the day went to Wardroper who was also lucky in win­ning the Guz­zlers Cup.

Next week there will be the two-ball ambrose Mark Ni­coll Memo­rial Tro­phy.
