Wardroper wins monthly medal
GOLF: A postponed April monthly medal sponsored by Airlie Panel and Paint and Master Butchers Whitsunday was played out last Sunday by the Whitsunday Golf Club on a glorious day with both front and back nine open.
Recovery on the course may be slow with recent rain not helping but the course is open and players are delighted. Players’ game recovery after the layoff is also a work in progress.
In men’s A-grade, Scotty Wardroper took the win on net 77 in front of runner-up Wayne Temby on net 78.
The best gross score went to Danny York and the longest drive was Wayne Temby.
In men’s B-grade, Ritchie Atkins was too good with a net 68 followed by runner-up Brendon Meharry on net 72.
The best gross score went to Mark McDougall; Ritchie Atkins had the longest drive.
Karen Rix won the ladies competition on net 69.
The runner-up was Anna Winterbourn on net 73.
The best gross score was Tiina Randmae and the longest drives went to (1-39 h’cap): Anna Winterbourn and (40+ h’cap) Annie Kercher.
Least putts on the day went to Wardroper who was also lucky in winning the Guzzlers Cup.
Next week there will be the two-ball ambrose Mark Nicoll Memorial Trophy.
