Lack of infrastructure
I FULLY agree with Margaret Shaw’s comments on the lack of infrastructure and planning (Letters to the Editor, Whitsunday Times, May 4).
It was noticed that water tanks in Cannonvale were empty just before the cyclone.
The water coming from a borehole is normally pumped up to the various tanks around Cannonvale. In case of emergency, generators are used as long as the water pumps are in good working condition.
To get running water to the consumers, electricity is not needed as gravity does the
rest. So, is it not time to reduce the financial burden to the community, as the Whitsundays with a limited infrastructure has one of the highest rates in the country yet with inadequate communal services? — Paul Blomme Cannonvale
