Not going quietly

Whitsunday Times - - NEWS COURT -

AN AFTERNOON of drinking ended very badly for Jason Anthoney Nielsen.

Police saw the 33-year-old Cannonvale man having an argument with a woman on Shute Harbour Rd, near Beaches around 11.30pm on April 15 and heard him say “don’t touch me you f****** c***”.

After police asked for his name, Nielsen demanded they arrest him but later attempted to walk away. Police walked him to their car where during a search, he became aggressive and started pulling his arm away from them. After struggling to handcuff him, an officer received a gash on his arm.

Duty lawyer Cleo Rewald said alcohol had played a significant part in the incident.

Nielsen was fined $1000, ordered to do 40 hours of community service and banned from the Airlie Beach Safe Night Precinct for six months.

Convictions were recorded.
